The other day I was going through Goodreads, picking out books I wanted to add to my library wishlist (I always say, searching for books is a completely separate hobby from reading, lol!). I came across Fredrick Bachman's newest release,  Anxious People . I always look at the quotes page to see if I vibe with the author's writing style. Man, does this book have some nuggets of wisdom! There are so many poignant quotes. This one resonated with me, just thinking about how overwhelming life can get when all those little things pile up: "Because the terrible thing about becoming an adult is being forced to realize that absolutely nobody cares about us, we have to deal with everything ourselves now, find out how the whole world works. Work and pay bills, use dental floss and get to meetings on time, stand in line and fill out forms, come to grips with cables and put furniture together, change tires on the car and charge the phone and switch the coffee machine off and not forget...

Hello Friday, we meet again! Man am I glad it's the weekend. Let's talk favorites, shall we?  My meal plan this week has been one of my favorites so far. It was super delicious and had really easy recipes! This week's lineup was: tacos, beef stir fry, chicken and broccoli casserole, homemade pizza, teriyaki chicken and veggies, and fajitas. I love that the meals we chose had only a few, really simple ingredients that are pantry staples, which made my grocery bill very reasonable. I also tried out a new recipe this week- slow cooker chicken and stuffing and it was so delicious. I made it for myself when Val went out for guys' night- he doesn't eat stuffing so I took advantage of him being out of the house haha. Speaking of meal plans, I purchased a meal planning kit from Passionate Penny Pincher . Hello, hello... it's been a long week. There has been so much going on! Coming off a difficult weekend, being overwhelmed with my workload, rising cases of COVID in our area, state-wide stay at home orders from 10 PM- 5 AM (because COVID only comes out at night? WTF?), and the election turning into an expectedly huge fiasco... Val and I are checked out. We've officially paused watching and checking the news for the time being. You just don't know who to trust or what to believe so we decided to take a step back. And, as I type this, I am holed up in my bedroom because the solar panel guys are on the roof and it sounds like there are elephants up there, and the dogs are bugging out. Phew. It has been forever since I've done a favorites! To be honest, this post has been a running document that I've been jotting in when things pop up, so I thought I would finally publish it with all the things I have been loving lately. Buckle up, this is a random one (as per usual!).  Leuchtturm 1917 notebook . I am OBSESSED with this notebook, friends. I love how the pages feel "used"- is that a weird thing to look for in notebooks? I use it as a bullet journal (kind of). All of my appointments, deadlines, and work schedule go in my Google calendar, but I use this journal as a place to house everything else: notes, brain-dumps, to-do lists, research, ideas, recipes, lists, work to-do's, everything. It's been working out great. I added a pen loop and red bubble stickers (because I'm a teenager, apparently) and I've been loving using this everyday.  Muji gel ink ballpoint pen . It's Friday, ya'll! Normally I would be screaming from the rooftops "TGIF!", but I'm on a short term leave from work currently so honestly, everyday feels like the weekend. But still, I always take the time to find the blessings in my everyday life. It's been so important in helping me grieve the loss of our daughter, Isabela. It feels like all these little "positives" are signs from my baby girl, and she's telling me that she's looking out for her mama. Gosh, I just love these weekly posts. So much positivity! It seems a little weird- and honestly, wrong- to be doing a Friday Favorites post so soon after losing our daughter Isabela Rose 2 weeks ago to preterm labor. But as I was thinking about it, I decided it's also the perfect time because these posts really make me pay attention to the little things that make me feel grateful and blessed every single day. So here goes… a Friday favorites, in the middle of processing our loss and grieving as a bereaved mother.  Warm weather. The past 2 days especially have been so beautiful. Today I am actually wearing shorts for the 1st time this season. My windows and blinds are all open and the house is so bright. I think that's important when all I want to do is lay in bed in my dark bedroom all day.
