What's Up Wednesday | July 2019

Image
Happy end of July! I can't believe we are already almost at the end of the summer. To say I am looking forward to the fall is an understatement. The weather here this month has been brutal! But let's get to the post, shall we? I always love participating in this link-up.  What we're eating this week...   Monday: Lemon chicken with spaghetti  Tuesday: Rice bowl from a local burrito bar  Wednesday: I met with up a friend for dinner- we shared appetizers (calamari and loaded potato skins) plus sangria.  Yum.   Thursday: Pork schnitzel (Hello Fresh meal) Friday: Meatloaf    What I'm reminiscing about...  Not much, I've been (a bit too much ) in the present lately. But the other day I was talking to a friend about college. And if or how my life would have been different if I hadn't made the decision to go where I ultimately chose.  What I'm loving... My new Kindle case | I honestly don't know why it took me almost 10 year

Our fertility treatment journey has come to an end... for now

Image
Hello everyone, I know that I promised a blog post on our journey through fertility treatments to have our first baby. A little back story: my husband and I have been trying to conceive for just about 16 consecutive months, unsuccessfully. You can read more about our struggle and my thoughts about TTC here . At around 14 months, I disclosed to my doctor and she recommended starting a fertility workup. I decided to contact a renown fertility clinic in our area to begin the process.  Getting an appointment was surprisingly easy. The only medical criteria was 12 months of TTC without success, which we surpassed. They were quick to offer appointments and we scheduled an appointment with only a 3 week wait, and that was mostly because we needed an early morning appointment so my husband could attend after coming home from work in the morning instead of during the day when he would be sleeping.  Our first appointment was overwhelming, to say the least. I'm pretty sure I was

Three Things

I saw this on Briane's blog and loved the post so I decided to give it a shot as well. Here are my three things: Three movies I've watched more than 20 times  1. The Holiday  2. Mary Poppins 3. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Three things I don’t do 1. Run/ hike/ yoga 2. Wear makeup often  3. Baby my books- I dog-ear, highlight/ write in the margins, AND crack the spine (shocker) Three things I'm always up for doing 1. Pedicure  2. Shop for home decor  3. Go out for lunch/ dinner  Three good things that happened this month I will be honest, I'm not in good headspace this month. Things have been really difficult lately but here are some good things that did happen: 1. Vacation 2. Spent lots of time with my hubby 3. Got our new rugs in! Three things I'm tired of 1. Summer. I'm ready for fall.  2. Infertility. It freaking SUCKS and the heartbreak you feel on the daily is unbelievable.  3. Ignorant people (re: the ones who can't ha

Haven't done one of these in a while, so I thought I'd give it a go!  Currently, I have been... Watching: Criminal Minds & Lucifer on Netflix, and all the Reading Rush vlogs on YouTube Reading: Throne of Glass (and LOVING it!). I just love Sarah J. Maas' writing style. Listening: to my "Happy." playlist on Spotify, and an audiobook on Scribd ( Immortal in Death by JD Robb) Shopping: I just bought myself a new fantasy book ( Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson), sandals to replace an old pair that I had to throw out, and a Picture Exchange resource on Teachers Pay Teachers. Loving: Nora Roberts | I used to think of her as an author that my mom or aunt would read, but she's prolific for a reason. Her writing is just great and she is so versatile. Reading fantasy | I've been in the mood for reading to escape lately, and nothing does a better job of that than a fantasy story! Universal Thread shorts  | These are the

Home DIY Recap | Refinishing & painting our old farmhouse style table for under $70

Image
Hey, everyone! Today I am back with a very long, picture-filled post! During our week vacation back in May, we (meaning me) decided to tackle refinishing, staining, and painting our old hand-me-down farmhouse style table and chairs.  In this post I'm going to go into detail about my experience with this project, but if you're just looking for a quick how-to, a materials list, and maybe some tips, scroll to the bottom. I tried my best to document the whole process, including products and techniques used. I hope this helps anyone looking to update their old table! ______________________________________________________________ I can't believe I forgot to do this, but I didn't take a "before" picture. Luckily, even though our table is over 15 years old, Wal-Mart still sells it. I found a picture with the exact chairs and bench we purchased a few years ago to complete the set as well. We love our table and it is very sturdy, but it had so many scratche
