Book Review: The Beau & the Belle by R.S. Grey

The Beau & The Belle by R.S. Grey  Series or Standalone? Standalone Format : E-book Rating: 3 Stars How I Got It: Kindle Unlimited Membership Genre: Contemporary Romance. Romantic Comedy Publisher: Self-Published Goodreads Synopsis:  Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies.  I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.  That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window.  A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel. Our interactions were scarce—mostly involving slight stalking on my end—and yet deep down, I desperately hoped h

My HelloFresh experience so far

Image
I recently subscribed to HelloFresh for my husband and I. We chose the 2 person/ 3 meal per week Classic plan. I thought writing this post would be helpful and informative to those who are interested in the service and want to learn more about it. Food boxes are relatively new nowadays, although it seems that they are popping up everywhere. There are so many to choose from- they vary from recipes, to snack boxes, and even already prepped meals! Unfortunately this post will only be discussing one brand and type of box, as I do not have any experience with other companies. The main reason I chose HelloFresh over other brands was because my good friend had given me a free box to trial. Apart from her and some coworkers, I actually don't know anyone else personally who uses this service. And honestly, I don't know why. I really like it so far! What is HelloFresh? It is essentially a subscription service that delivers to your home all the ingredients you need to pr

Self Care Ideas

Image
Self-care is so, so important. It is a way to prioritize yourself in the business of life. It is a way to regain sanity when you feel stressed and overwhelmed. And most of all, it allows you to think about yourself for once- instead of always putting others first. If you clicked on this post, then you probably have first hand experience of putting yourself last and wanting to change that.  I have been trying to be more mindful of my own self-care, as I am easily stressed, take my work home with me, and tend to let others' opinions get me down. It's a work in progress, that's for sure. This is why I wanted to share this post- if it can help even one person and make them feel like they're not alone and encourage them to think of themselves first every now and again, then this post will have done it's job.  Prioritizing yourself isn't selfish. In fact, it is actually the least selfish thing you could do; self-care is a strategic way to make sure that y

An Introvert's Perfect Night

People often refer to me as a "homebody"; I consider myself an introvert. I spend a lot of time alone or just puttering around my home, cuddling up with my dog, husband, and a book/ Netflix. I don't hang out at bars or parties; I prefer quiet Saturday nights on the couch or watching a movie with my husband. If I do hang out with friends, it's usually at their home or to grab coffee, lunch, or maybe some light shopping. When I am out, it's guaranteed that I am already thinking how I can't wait to get home and relax. A lot of people tease me and say that I'm a boring old lady, but I definitely need time to recharge because I work a very extroverted and social job throughout the week. I'm constantly dealing with parents, supervising staff, and trying to teach little humans how to communicate and develop important life skills that will foster their independence and learning. It's a rewarding but very exhausting job and sometimes (ok, OFTEN), I just

Top 10 Books on my Spring TBR

I  have always been an avid reader. However, my love, patience, and enjoyment of reading definitely went out the window during my later years of high school, college, and early years of adulthood. I took almost a 10 year hiatus from consistently reading, which now makes me really sad because of all the great books I probably missed out on. That said, I have started once again with my nightly routine of curling up with a good book after my husband leaves for work.  I am definitely enjoying getting back to my original hobby. I enjoy following book blogs and YouTube channels. There is a post floating around the blogosphere called Top Ten Tuesday. It is a bookish list-based blog post that many bloggers participate in.  Top Ten Tuesday was created by  The Broke and the Bookish  i n June of 2010 and was moved to   That Artsy Reader Girl   in January of 2018.  Thi s is my first time participating- I didn't follow the week's exact prompt, but found one that I thought looked interest

A new adventure

Image
I have finally bit the bullet and started a blog! This is my first official post. I wanted to start a blog for a couple different reasons. I love reading blog posts, and sometimes have things of my own to add to the conversations that are started there. I love to write, but I haven't in a really long time. And I wanted a new hobby, something that wasn't mindless and taught me something about myself. Thus, this blog was born. It's definitely a little scary putting yourself our there like this, but I think this experience will be good for me. I hope to have interesting conversations, make new connections, and maybe even make some friends through this new adventure. I really hope you join me!
