What's Up Wednesday | August 2019

Image
It's already the end of August. I can't believe it- before we know it, it will be Halloween! Before we get to that, though, it's time to recap the month with the What's Up Wednesday link up.  What we're eating this week...  Monday: chicken sausage and spaghetti  Tuesday: solo Mexican date Wednesday: Parmesan crusted chicken & rice Thursday: chicken bowls  Friday: enchiladas  What I'm reminiscing about. ..  I was looking at old pictures of my Cooper the other day... I can't believe how small he was!  What I'm loving...  I did a couple of Friday Favorites posts this month (posts here and here ). I talked about my new morning routine, using my planner, recent concerts I snagged tickets to, a new Instagram artist I'm obsessed with, quality family time, and a fun work outing that really cheered me up after a stressful couple of days.  I have found a lot of comfort in  infertility support  latel

A rare weekend together, going to a rock show, bonfires with friends, and quality cuddles

Happy Monday, friends. I had a surprising and full weekend! My husband and I snagged tickets to a concert Sunday night, so he decided to call out on Saturday and make it a weekend. I was so happy! We don't get weekends together often, because he has Wednesday and Thursday off instead of Saturday and Sunday like me. Plus, like I mentioned in my last post , he has been working crazy mandatory OT, like he usually does every summer. So I was pleasantly surprised that he got to have the weekend off.  Friday night was pretty uneventful. I read some of my book, cooked dinner, and tidied up a bit. A typical end-of-the-week night for me!  On Saturday, we had a birthday party for our good friends' son. They're the friends we went on vacation with last month. I can't believe their little man's already 10! It's crazy how big he is- time really does fly. We always stay later than their family does, and we do our typical end-of-the-summer bonfire. It was so nice to

Infertility is...

When you're going through infertility, it's like being on a roller coaster and not being able to get off. Having a baby is no longer just something you want- it becomes an all-consuming, desperate need to feel complete. I know, that sounds really dramatic. I might have even thought the same thing, before experiencing it myself. But unless you have personally struggled to start a family, you really can’t fathom how much this journey takes over your life and soul. I hope this post helps foster some understanding, even if it's just a start. Infertility is waking up everyday with gut-wrenching feelings of guilt, overwhelming sadness, hopelessness, jealousy. It is constantly being reminded of your failure to start your family, because everywhere you look, everyone else in the world seems to be pregnant, so happy, with their hands on their baby bumps, pushing strollers, hugging their preschooler, and you can't help but wonder... why isn’t that you? Infertility is

Friday Favorites | trampoline park, working from home, quality time, and (of course) puppy pics

Happy Friday! I am SO thankful that  it's the weekend. Much like last week, this week was so stressful both with work and with life in general. I have a quick list of favorites to share with you all so here we go, TGIF! My husband had a day off this week! Summer is a super busy season at his company, and he's only had 1 or 2 days off since our vacation last month. He works third shift (overnights), and with my long hours we rarely see each other for more than a couple hours a day, if  we're lucky. Some days I'm just walking in the door as he's walking out. I've missed him, a lot. We went out to dinner at a local gourmet burger place, and we both got the mac and cheese burger with fries and crafts beers. We grabbed ice cream after, too. It was so nice to be "normal" for a night, and to spend quality time together. Cooper was SO happy he got to sleep with both mommy and daddy in the same bed lol. He of course bunkered down right in the middle of us

Infertility support from around the internet | The struggle of plus-size fertility treatment, encouraging posts, and favorite Instagram accounts

I know I am not the only one constantly Googling for blog posts or memes that relate to my current life state. I may sound like a broken record at this point, but infertility has become all-consuming in my life, and in my search to not feel crazy, I've come across some wonderful infertility bloggers/ Instagrammers that I want to share with all of you.  My favorite Instagram accounts. Morgan Harper Nichols  //  She is not an infertility blogger per say, but she posts such encouraging art and quotes. I love scrolling through her feed.  I saw this after attending yet another baby-related function, and it gave me so much comfort during a really dark, depressing day. This quote gives me so much hope. I look at it often.  @while_we.wait   // I really like Sarah's account because she tries so hard to be so positive, and tries to not let infertility affect her life too much.  @fertilitysmarts  // This account has some funny cartoons about the reality o

Friday favorites (on a Monday?!) and weekend full of family time

Happy Monday everyone! I had planned to write this post over the weekend, but it was so jam packed that I didn't have time- so I am compiling my last week's favorites with a weekend recap.  By Friday last week, I was SO GLAD it was the weekend. The work week was so stressful, I  had been counting down to Friday as of mid-morning Monday! Knowing I was doing this post was definitely a good mood-booster throughout the week, and a good reminder to be mindful (and grateful) for the little things in the day-to-day that make me happy.  Some of my favorites from the week:  My new morning routine. I have recently fallen into a new morning routine that is much more productive than the one I had previously. I used to have a very laid-back morning, in which I would get up, drink my coffee, and watch TV on the couch- then realize that I needed to get ready quickly or I'd be late for work. I would shower quickly, throw my wet hair in a messy bun, and put on whatever clothing it

My Top Favorite Binge Shows

Image
Hey everyone! For today's Let's Look At..., we are talking about our favorite binge shows.  This month's topic was MADE for me... we don't have cable, so we rely on Netflix and our Firestick for all our entertainment needs. I LOVE that because my favorite way to consume TV is by binging and watching shows straight through. I barely even remember what it was like to watch TV pre-streaming when we used to have to wait a week between shows! Even if we were watching a TV show on live TV, we would save it for when it came onto Netflix so we could watch it in one go. In my opinion, it makes the whole experience so much more immersive and cohesive! Anyway, enough blabbing from me...here are my favorite binge-worthy shows.  NCIS Hawaii 5-0 Criminal Minds Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries  Sherlock Father Brown Big Little Lies  Before we cut cable, we used to watch many more TV shows. It was a fun thing to do
