Looking back on 2019! My favorite memories from the year

Image
I thought it would be a fun idea to really reflect on 2019, in a way that matters: looking back at some of my favorite memories. 2019 was honestly, really hard. So that's why I want it to go out with a bang: with my favorite events, pictures, and memories. I want to ring in the new decade with a happy, positive mindset and what better way to do that than a recap?  January.  My husband turned 35, and I surprised with the coolest gift: a record player, record stand, and records from his favorite bands, Metallica and Shinedown... in the Shinedown record were tickets to see them live in March. He was so surprised!  February.   We watched Big Little Lies and loved it (thanks hubby for indulging me in my book-to-screen adaptation addiction!). March.  We went to see Shinedown in concert at a local casino and had a blast!  I also turned 30 this month and reflected on important lessons I've learned in my life.  Then  I went to a conference with my coworkers and left

Friday Favorites (on a Sunday?) / holidays off, productive work day, Disney on Ice

Happy Friday folks! I hope everyone had a good week, and an even better holiday! This weekly favorites post is going to be short and sweet, since it's been a slow week thanks to the holiday.  Christmas Eve and Day off work . I'm so thankful that my company gives us both Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day off. Not many places do that these days so I consider myself lucky. It definitely made easing into the holiday a bit smoother since I wasn't rushing around so much.  Productive work day at home.  I got to work from home the day after Christmas, which was a nice surprise. I had one session in the morning then all my afternoon sessions cancelled, so I decided to work for the rest of the day from my couch. I am rarely productive at home but for some reason, I was able to get so much done that day- I am actually ahead of schedule by a whole week for a treatment plan deadline. That NEVER happens!    Disney On Ice.  I swear this will be the last time I talk about Disney

It's been a hot minute since I've participated in Steph and Jana's Show Us Your Books link up and its the perfect time to do so, since today we are recapping our yearly favorites.  I was honestly shocked that 2/5 of my favorite books of the year were historical fiction, and that I only had one thriller make the list this year. Especially considering mystery/thriller was the biggest genre category that I read from in 2019. Regardless of genres, these five books were absolutely wonderful and I am so glad that I read them this year.  Daisy Jones and the Six   by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This was a historical fiction, interview style novel telling the story of the most famous collaboration/band of the 70s, Daisy Jones and The Six, their rise to fame, and the group's private, never-before-discussed split that occurred in the middle of their most popular and sold out tour. This was incredible. It was like reading a VH1 Behind the Music episode. I loved that TJR made th

What's Up Wednesday (on a Sunday) | December 2019

I'm late for What's Up Wednesday but wanted to join in anyway! Here is what's up with us lately...  What we're eating this week...  I've been talking about this A LOT, but I have started a new diet ("lifestyle change" as they call it), focusing on eating low-carb/ lean protein. So, all my meals revolve around that. My favorites that I usually eat weekly include roasted chicken and broccoli, cauliflower pizza crust/ "sandwich thins", salads, spaghetti squash casseroles, and this week I am going to attempt to make zoodles for a chicken alfredo dish. Once I get more comfortable eating the boring basics, I can start trying to get creative. What I'm reminiscing about...  Christmas as a kid. Christmas Eve used to take place at my mom's house so the morning would be a mad dash to clean the house. At night time all my cousins, aunts, and uncles would come over for dinner and presents, then we would go house-hopping to all my other family m
