Currently, I am... 

 Picking paint colors and hardware for our next couple of home projects: painting our front door and kitchen cabinets, and refinishing an old vegetable bin.

 Going to see Chris Young and Chris Janson with a good friend next week! I'm excited. First concert of the summer! I saw Chris Young open for Jason Aldean a couple years ago and he was fantastic. I bought his album before I left the show that night. 

 Wishing that I could just snap my fingers and things would just get done a la I Dream of Jeannie... my to-do list never seems to stop growing.

 Wearing some new clothes I picked up over the month- some cute tops, my denim jacket, and shorts, finally- thanks to the weather cooperating! I've been donning a sporty look lately, with a couple of dressed-up outfits for date night. Here's a pic of my new favorite tee: 

I have also been wearing some new workout clothes I purchased from Dick's Sporting Goods and Macy's (post here). My favorite is this cute sweatshirt and these leggings. 
Celebrating my mom graduating with her Associates degree in Accounting last weekend. In September, she is transferring those credits to help complete her Bachelor's degree at a university. 

 Other life happenings were talked about in this post, and it was a good summary of May: lots of family time, DIYs, friends, shopping, work stress, vacation, my thoughts on The Big Bang Theory, our plans for summer, and my current reads.  So far in June, not much has happened (which is a good thing!). Lots of relaxing and enjoying the weather.

    Ooh that sounds like such a fun concert. I hope you have a blast. I could really use some more workout clothes - these are adorable. And congrats to your mom!

    We painted our front door a pretty turquoise blue last summer and it still makes me so happy every time I pull into my driveway - hope you love yours just as much when it's done :) And I love the tie-front tee look right now too - even cuter in those nice blue stripes you found!

      I'm debating if I want to do something cute and colorful or just stick to black... decisions, decisions! The tee is super comfy. I highly recommend it! I got it from Kohl's.

    I've been wanting to try a tie-front tee. As soon as I see one in person maybe and can get an idea of the size. Painting a front door changes the whole look of the house. I love doing that.

      I'm really enjoying that trend. I thought I wouldn't like it because of my stomach, but I actually love it! Its so cute.
      Yes, I agree about painting the door! I just can't decide what color to do! Dilemmas lol...

    i saw chris young back in 2010 in a super small venue and it was amazing. i was hardcore obsessed with him for a couple years lol. that tee is so cute!

Friday Favorites! A hodge podge of random things

The other day I was going through Goodreads, picking out books I wanted to add to my library wishlist (I always say, searching for books is a completely separate hobby from reading, lol!). I came across Fredrick Bachman's newest release,  Anxious People . I always look at the quotes page to see if I vibe with the author's writing style. Man, does this book have some nuggets of wisdom! There are so many poignant quotes. This one resonated with me, just thinking about how overwhelming life can get when all those little things pile up: "Because the terrible thing about becoming an adult is being forced to realize that absolutely nobody cares about us, we have to deal with everything ourselves now, find out how the whole world works. Work and pay bills, use dental floss and get to meetings on time, stand in line and fill out forms, come to grips with cables and put furniture together, change tires on the car and charge the phone and switch the coffee machine off and not forget

If you and I had coffee, we would likely get a table outside. Mask mandates have been lifted here, so we would be able to feel a bit "normal" while sitting at a coffee shop with our drinks. I would probably put way too much creamer or syrup in my coffee, and you'd tease me and ask if I want some coffee with my cream. I'd roll my eyes but laugh because you're right. I love me a good indulgent coffee. It's the one "unhealthy" thing I won't budge on.  We would catch up, since it's probably been a really long time since we have gotten together in person. We'd agree that while facetime/ Zoom chats were an okay substitute, nothing compares to face-to-face girl time.  I'd tell you about how the weight on my shoulders feels a bit less "heavy" even though every now and again there are still some really dark days. Our Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Monday, y'all. I gotta be honest, with everything going on I completely forgot it was Memorial Day weekend! Here's what we got up to.  Friday was an extremely productive day. I got a ton checked off my deep cleaning to-do list, including cleaning out my toaster, deep cleaning the fridge, scrubbing down the cabinets, and taking apart and cleaning the vacuum. I also meal prepped my favorite low-carb Mexican beef casserole and cleaned my kitchen floor. Whew!  I didn't sleep well Friday night, so I slept in late Saturday morning. We had a late brunch and got back to work. Hubby worked in Isabela's room, while I tackled more off my deep cleaning to-do list. Then we worked together to hook up the fridge so we could finally have a working ice maker. By the end of that project I had to reclean my entire kitchen, from dusting to reorganizing cabinets to washing the floor.
