Monthly To-Do's | December 2019

It's been a while since I've written a goals post. Here goes- might as well finish off the year with a bang!
finish decluttering my kitchen cabinets. I've done most of my cabinets by now, but my pots and pans cabinet is stressing me out! I bought some organizers for it, but I can't seem to make them fit. Newbie mistake. Make sure you measure before you purchase!

scrub down the kitchen cabinets. Self-explanatory. My kitchen could use a deep clean before the new year hits.

finish Christmas shopping by the 20th. This is ALWAYS a December goal of mine. I hate Christmas shopping. And I hate even more shopping up until Christmas Eve. 

purchase a fiddle leaf fig for my living room. I've been looking for a realistic one for a while for the blank spot near my buffet table in the kitchen/ living room. 

try 3 new recipes. I love to cook and trying out new recipes! It's especially important now because I've cut out carbs. New recipes help to keep things fresh so I can stay on track and not just eat a chicken salad every day.

make a hair appointment for myself. It's been a while! My sister-in-law just got a salon job so I will most likely go to her for a hair refresh. 

 clean up my office. My office has been the room that I throw things in to lately! I need to get a handle on that. 

fix my office closet. Guys, it's a disaster in there, floor to ceiling. I store all my work toys (I work with kiddos so need lots of materials) and there is really only one shelf in there for storage. I hope to fix this soon. It's been on my list since MARCH, people. Now is the time!

 Looking back at it now, it looks like a lofty list, huh? I'd better get started... in January I'll report back on how I did! Wish me luck!

Friday Favorites! A hodge podge of random things

The other day I was going through Goodreads, picking out books I wanted to add to my library wishlist (I always say, searching for books is a completely separate hobby from reading, lol!). I came across Fredrick Bachman's newest release,  Anxious People . I always look at the quotes page to see if I vibe with the author's writing style. Man, does this book have some nuggets of wisdom! There are so many poignant quotes. This one resonated with me, just thinking about how overwhelming life can get when all those little things pile up: "Because the terrible thing about becoming an adult is being forced to realize that absolutely nobody cares about us, we have to deal with everything ourselves now, find out how the whole world works. Work and pay bills, use dental floss and get to meetings on time, stand in line and fill out forms, come to grips with cables and put furniture together, change tires on the car and charge the phone and switch the coffee machine off and not forget...

If you and I had coffee, we would likely get a table outside. Mask mandates have been lifted here, so we would be able to feel a bit "normal" while sitting at a coffee shop with our drinks. I would probably put way too much creamer or syrup in my coffee, and you'd tease me and ask if I want some coffee with my cream. I'd roll my eyes but laugh because you're right. I love me a good indulgent coffee. It's the one "unhealthy" thing I won't budge on.  We would catch up, since it's probably been a really long time since we have gotten together in person. We'd agree that while facetime/ Zoom chats were an okay substitute, nothing compares to face-to-face girl time.  I'd tell you about how the weight on my shoulders feels a bit less "heavy" even though every now and again there are still some really dark days. Friday Favorites! | CEUs, recipes, new jeans, eating healthy and my new raincoat!

Hello everyone! This is my first Friday Favorites in a while, and I'm so happy to be back at it. This week was a doozy- work was insanely busy. I'm so glad its the weekend and I'm looking forward to having the time to clean my home, do laundry, walk my dog, and do some good binge watching on Netflix. Bring on the weekend! Free Continuing Education credits. I went to a continuing education workshop this week and at the end of the event, the presenter shared that she does a free journal club monthly, in which once a month she hosts a webinar meeting to discuss a published article in our field that everyone reads before the meeting. I was so pleased to find it was a free CEU event, and that I could get 12 of these CEs per year if I participate monthly. That's a huge deal! Normally CEUs range from $25.00- $100.00, so the fact that I can get almost half of my required CEs for free is so awesome. I'm really excited for our December meeting!  Sandy's Kit...
