Some books I own but haven't read yet

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved to read. My first day of Kindergarten I came home crying, because my teacher hadn't taught me yet. Reading was my major hobby in life aside from dancing, and to this day it's one of my favorite things to do. Throughout my early adult life, I didn't make it a priority. The last few years, I have made sure to carve in time to read and have set Goodreads challenges every year (in case you're wondering, this year's goal is 36 books). Because I've been consciously making this effort, my book collection has grown exponentially, both digitally and physically. Seriously, check out my book cart:

Anyway, I thought it might be cool to share some books that I own, but haven't read yet (spoiler alert: there's waaaaaaaay too many). I'm going to limit this list to 5 that are super high on my priority list:

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Goodreads Synopsis: Meet Eleanor Oliphant. She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.  Everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.

Goodreads Synopsis: Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times... and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare. What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

Goodreads Synopsis:  Looming war threatens all Feyre holds dear in the third volume of the #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin's maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit – and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords – and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

Goodreads Synopsis: Auburn Reed is determined to rebuild her shattered life and she has no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to become deeply attracted to the studio’s enigmatic artist, Owen Gentry. For once, Auburn takes a chance and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is hiding a huge secret. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything Auburn loves most, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it—but can she do it?

Goodreads Synopsis: Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London. Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him.

These all sound AMAZING! They each have really interesting story lines, and I can't wait to read them. I think I might do a follow-up post, to report back on how I felt about them after I've read them! Are there any books that you have but haven't read? Which ones are you prioritizing? I'd love to know :)

  1. I loved Eleanor Oliphant!

I own way too many books that I haven't read, but that doesn't stop me getting more! Current priorities are The Toy Makers by Robert Dinsdale, which I got for Christmas and it sounds amazing, Howl's Moving Castle, which I have owned for over 3 years so I really need to just get to it already, and More Than This by Patrick Mess.

    1. I'm looooving it so far! She's such an interesting character, and I have found myself pausing after reading some sentences and highlighting them. It's a really interesting book that truly has some great perspectives. Those books sound so good! I hear you on owning so many books... I'm trying so hard to read as I acquire but that never works out in my favor lol.
